Abstract (en)

Concludes that the equation made between the conservation and display of national art treasures (including works confiscated during campaigns in Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands) and good government, together with advances in the practice and perception of restoration, constitute two of the Revolutionary Louvre's significant legacies to the modern world.
