Abstract (en)

Brief history of the 15th c. synagogue of Tomar, which was converted into a prison in the early 16th c. and into a chapel in the 17th. Reports on archaeological discoveries since 1985; also reports on plans to create a museum of the history of the Jews in Portugal (the Museo Luso-Hebraico de Abraão Zacuto), as originally proposed by Samuel Schwartz when he purchased the building and gave it to the Portuguese nation in 1939.
