Abstract (en)

Surveys Sustris's work in Padua during the 1540s, focusing on his mural paintings and preparatory drawings for them. Considers his relationship with other artists at the time, including the influence of Raphael, Salviati and Parmigianino. His humanist patrons included Alvise Cornaro and Marco Mantova Benavides. Notes his interest in classical antiquity, and his role in drawing attention to landscape painting at this time.
