History ca.1840s-1880s of La Grenouillère, a bathing spot on an island in the Seine in the northern suburbs of Paris, based on descriptions in literature (especially magazine articles and a short story by Maupassant), prints, and paintings by Monet and Renoir. Suggests the resort was situated at Croissy, on the narrowest part of the Île des Impressionnistes, between the present-day La Grenouillère golf course and the municipal park.
