Outlines the history of the collection of early medieval decorative arts in the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte, which was one of the largest in the world before the second World War. Some of the thousands of objects dispersed or destroyed during the war have been recuperated, and were the subject of an exhibition at the museum.
