Recounts the collecting activities of Dr. Gerhart B. in the first decades of the century; the lawyer and counselor's collection contained outstanding examples of German wooden sculpture of the 15th-16th cs. Describes his house, Villa Gebauer, in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin, where his collection was kept. Outlines his relationship with the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum, Berlin, the main benefactor of his interests as a collector, both before and after his death.
