Reports on the 1993 annual conference of the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics, in Anaheim. Notes that five sessions were concerned with the problem of generating a realistic image from geometric and environmental data; and that the juried art show was limited to pieces containing an interactive component; focuses on animation; and comments on fundamental assumptions about the nature of the image, the media, and the idea of progress.
