Reviews the exhibition Multiple Räume (Baden-Baden, Staatliche Kunsthalle, 14 Feb-18 Apr 2004), focusing on how painters, photographers, and video artists visually represented the human soul to the public during the 20th and 21st cs. Discusses works by artists such as Dalí that represent the inner self through dreams and fantasy, and also considers exterior themes that depict the soul, such as the melancholy landscapes of Max Klinger.
