Abstract (en)
Analyzes and presents a partial translation of Fernando Sampietro's book-length poem Marilyn Monroe y yo (1983), in which the actress and narrator encounter artists including Salvador Dalí, Andy Warhol, and Marcel Duchamp. Claims the poem "functions as an allegory of the conflicted relationship between US mass culture and a generation of avant-garde artists of the Latin American left".
