Abstract
(en)
Discusses Salvador Dalí's work for the theater. Examines the stage designs and costumes that he created primarily during the 1940s, and concludes that these designs demonstrate that he failed to address the specifics of designing for theatrical productions. Asserts that, despite this failure, Dalí expanded the notion of theater in his ongoing project of self-staging and in the event character of the Dream of Venus pavilion he created for the 1939 World's Fair in New York.
