- Discusses the persistence of the idea of the Holy Grail in Western art and literature, and reviews numerous versions of the legend from the Middle Ages through the 20th c. Examines Salvador Dalí's integration of the grail into his own work, tracing the shift from his blasphemous treatment of the grail, the host, and other Catholic icons during the late 1920s and early 1930s to his stylized mysticism of the late 1940s and 1950s.
