Abstract (en)
46 drawings largely of black working people, made during the course of a tour of the American South under a Guggenheim Fellowship (1934-1935). The drawings served Cook as sources for his murals for the Pittsburgh Federal Court House (1935-1936) and the Post Office in San Antonio, Texas (1937). The latter was commissioned by the US Treasury Relief Art Project.
