Accompanies an exhibition devoted to exploring the interaction of designer, printmaker, and publisher in the 16th c. Discusses privileges for both prints and books (distinguishing them from modern copyright), particularly those in force in Venice and the Papal States. Individuals discussed include Dürer, Marcantonio Raimundi, Aldus Manutius, Jacopo de'Barbari, Titian, Ugo da Carpi, Giulio Bonasone, Giorgio Ghisi, and Hendrick Goltzius. Closes with a checklist of the 41 prints and books shown.
