Abstract (en)

Identifies the figure discovered in an x-radiograph of Delacroix's painting Halt of the Greek Cavaliers (Cleveland Museum of Art) as Delacroix's student and friend Maurice Sand, on the basis of a similar figure in a drawing cited in the 1927 monograph on the artist by Raymond Escholier (present location unknown).
