Technical analysis of cloisonné enamels confirms that, rather than dating from the 10th-12th cs., they are forgeries produced ca.1892-1911, presumably in Saint Petersburg (formerly in the M.P. Botkin collection; now Walters Art Gallery, Baltimore, and Byzantine collection at Dumbarton Oaks, Washington).
