Discusses two landscape paintings, Autumn Landscape with Frederiksborg Slot, ca.1837, and Autumn Morning at Sortedamssøen, 1838, by Christen Købke, both in Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen. Interprets them in light of the painter's attitude toward nature. Also discussed are several of Købke's portraits (paintings and drawings).
