Discusses the monument, ca.1795, to Augustin Ehrensvärd by the Swedish Neo-classical sculptor, J.T. Sergell (Sergel), focusing on its decoration, a Corinthian helmet. Deals with the Romantic ideas of Ehrensvärd's son, Carl August, that inspired its creation. The monument is located on the Finnish island of Sveaborg (Suomenlinna).
