An attempt to reconstruct the total history of this Tennessee community's white inhabitants. Includes discussion of architecture. Considers the impact on our perception of Cades Cove of the National Park Service's policy of selectively retaining artifacts when it evicted the community's residents upon forming the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
