Recent solo exhibitions of works by Robert Ryman and Donald Judd prompt these reflections on absolute art in relation to these two heirs of Malevich. Argues that Judd's sculpture does not attain the condition of absolute art while Ryman's painting is absolutism's finest contemporary realization.
