Analyzes the role of museums housing ethnographic material culture at the time of the Education Act of 1902. Specific roles assigned to ethnographic collections in the discourses on museums and education within the Museums Association are discussed in relation to National and International Trade and Colonial exhibitions between 1900 and 1910, which served as additional sites producing knowledge of colonial subjects and supporting nationalist ideology.
