Reviews an English edition of I modi, comprising the album of prints by Marcantonio after erotic drawings made by Giulio Romano ca.1524, and the sonnets composed by Pietro Aretino to accompany the prints; together with other material. Disputes Lawner's interpretation of the women in the prints as courtesans, as well as her general views on courtesans in Renaissance Italy.
