Discusses two depictions of the Funnel of Hell in Dante's Divina commedia: a miniature by Botticelli (Biblioteca vaticana, Rome) and a drawing by Giuliano da Sangallo (Biblioteca Vallicelliana, Rome). Argues that both derived from a common source--a relief (ca.1480s) by one "Il Raggio the broker" which is known from a description in Vasari's life of Filippino Lippi.
