On the reluctance to preserve the memory of victims of war, especially those of the Holocaust, 1933-1945. Discusses the delay and neglect to create such memorials, as the one at the Dachau concentration camp, planned in 1955 and inaugurated in 1965. Deals with the question of what should be considered a theme for a work of art.
