Publishes excerpts of two letters from Carl Georg Curtius, a corporate lawyer visiting Hamburg, to his wife, dated Hamburg 22 July and 27 July, 1808. Curtius tells of his visit to Runge's studio where he saw the painting, Morning (Hamburger Kunsthalle) apparently already completed.
