Abstract (en)

Discusses the theme of justification (salvation) in Lucas Cranach's work and his influence on art produced after the Reformation. Compares Cranach's painting Fall of Man and Salvation, 1529 (Národní galerie, Prague), with several others on the same theme, focusing on a painting by an unknown artist, 1540-1550 (Szépművészeti Múzeum, Budapest), recently exhibited in connection with the 500th anniversary of Luther's birth, 1983.
