Discusses the theme of the Judgment of Adam and Eve, 1556, a woodcut by Jacob Lucius the elder, 1556, and its influence on a painting signed by the monogrammist JAR, ca.1570 (Museum für Kunst und Kulturgeschichte der Hansestadt Lübeck, Lübeck). Shows that the theme, based on a sermon by Bernard of Clairvaux, was used both by protestants and catholics in the years of the Reformation.
