Abstract (en)

Focuses on an initial F (private collection, London) attributed to the Master of the Deruta and Salerno Missals, with scenes of S. Francis Receiving the Stigmata and S. Francis Preaching to the Birds based on the frescoes by the Master of S. Francis of Assisi in the lower church of S. Francesco, Assisi, here dated 1252-1260. Dates the initial 1280-1290, together with related examples, and notes the influence of Cimabue.
