Authors Detlev Lücke, Ina Gille, Günter Blutke, Gabriele Muschter, Ingrid Beyer, Manfred Heirler and Lutz Arnold discuss various aspects of the exhibition including the works of young East German painters, portraits, and humor as theme. Also contains analyses of individual works by four artists represented in the exhibition: paintings by Andreas Thieme, Neo Rauch, and Stefan Plenkers; a drawing by Rolf Kuhrt.
