Abstract
(en)
Identifies as a disguised self-portrait a figure dressed in a long smock grasping his flowing beard in Baccio Bandinelli's 1539-1540 relief of the Coronation of Charles V by Clement VII (Rome, S. Maria sopra Minerva, Tomb of Clement VII). Discusses this within the context of Bandinelli's consistent efforts to achieve status, fame and wealth by means of propaganda.
