Summarizes the history of the 16th c. fortifications of Brescia, Orzinuovi, Asola, and Peschiera del Garda. Emphasizes the primary contribution of Agostino da Castello (Castelli) in these cities, especially in the construction of the city walls of Brescia (1516-1560) and the fortified city of Orzinuovi, formerly attributed to Michele Sanmicheli. Appendix of documents (1530-1564).
