Abstract (en)
John Woodward's collection of 9400 specimens of minerals and organic fossils, formed between 1688 and 1724, is unusual as a comprehensive and truly 'scientific' collection, documented and used by Woodward as a basis for elaborate classifications. Though rearranged, it survives intact together with its four original cabinets in the Sedgwick Museum, Cambridge University.
