Reconstruction and subsequent history of 16th c. south German armour known as the Fico group. Concludes that the "group" was originally a single armour made by Wolfgang Grosschedel for an unknown patron. The decoration was completed in 1529 by an engraver "ES", here identified as Erhard Schön of Nuremberg. The etched hand gestures and other imagery combine to form a commentary on sexual license. Early in the 19th c. the original armour was reused as the model for, and incorporated into, eight composite and restored armours and seven chanfrons, probably by the Nuremberg artist, dealer, and forger Abraham Wolfgang Küffner. They are now dispersed in various museums. Appendices include catalogue of the individual pieces.
