Kunstmuseum exhibition documents the full range of German and international avant-garde art which Flechtheim introduced to the Düsseldorf public. Kunstsammlung exhibition of modernist paintings is designed to reveal the impact on public exhibiting institutions in Germany of the so-called Degenerate Art legislation of 1937. And the Kunsthalle exhibition studies the concepts of progressive and regressive art as reflecting current social and political conflicts in 1930s France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
