Abstract (en)
Discusses the allegory of Bourdon's painting, Queen Christina on Horseback, 1653 (Madrid, Prado), and its references to Alexander the Great. Argues that the purpose of the painting was to seek the Spanish king's collaboration in the Swedish queen's goal to first abdicate and then convert to Catholicism.
