Correspondence concerning Shrimplin-Evangelidis's argument [Art bulletin 71 (1989) 58-66] that Michelangelo's Pietà (Florence, Museo dell'Opera del Duomo) reflects his adherence to the Nicodemist Catholic reform movement. Wind suggests instead that Michelangelo's sources might have been Bolognese art and the popular tradition of the sacra rappresentazione emphasizing the figure of Nicodemus.
