Letter in response to Michael Pritchard's article, "Commercial photographers in nineteenth century Great Britain" (History of Photography, July-Sept 1987). Notes that in addition to Ann Cooke, Jane Nina Wigley also received a license from Richard Beard, and suggests that they were probably the only women to have such arrangements; contends that Pritchard overestimates the number of commercial photographers active in Great Britain in 1851.
