Considers a group of nine Gothic ivories produced in Paris or northern France ca.1340-1360 which show scenes of lovers, trysts, wildmen and gallant actions set in landscapes with the horizon line near the top of the composition. Demonstrates their reliance on the illuminations in mid-14th c. French romance manuscripts.
