Examines the elaborate cabinet for art objects acquired by Gustavus II of Sweden in 1632 and now in the collection of Uppsala universitet. Its design and construction were supervised by Philipp Hainhofer in Augsburg in the years 1625-1631. The cabinet consists of a variety of materials, including ebony, ivory, goldsmithing, enamel, gilded bronze, and gems. Its components, its iconographic program, and the circumstances surrounding its production are discussed.
