On Karl Ernst Osthaus as a patron of modern art and architecture in the early 20th c. Recounts the history of the Folkwang-Museum, Hagen, conceived by him and designed by Henry van de Velde in 1900-1902 (now the Karl-Ernst-Osthaus Museum). Discusses the formation of Osthaus's collection of 19th and early 20th c. art, which was acquired by the Museum Folkwang Essen in 1922.
