Examines the iconography of the temporary decorations erected for the exequies of the first wife of Philip IV at S. Jerónimo, Madrid, 1644. Designed by Juan Gómez de Mora, the decorations are known from descriptions and from engravings attributed to Juan de Noort. Argues that the unusual depiction of Isabel as an active queen refers to her role as governor of Castile.
