Brief account of paintings by Raphael originally in the Spanish royal collections, especially the eight that survive in the Prado, Madrid; compares those that were transferred to canvas in Paris during the Napoleonic period to those that are conserved on their original panels, which include the Madonna della Quercia. Presents technical evidence concerning its restoration.
