Abstract (en)
Analyzes the evidence from the 1341 and 1350 inventories of the chapel of the confraternity of Gesù Pellegrino at S. Maria Novella, Florence, reconstructing the decoration of the chapel (Cappella di SS. Simone e Taddeo in the Chiostro dei Morti) and casting light on the role of works of art in the confraternity's worship rituals. Focuses on images and objects associated with funeral rites. (Appendices with translations of inventories and documents.)
