Abstract
(en)
Draws attention to the diversity of Cram's Medievalism, the range of his accomplishments, and his place in fin-de-siècle culture. Surveys his life, writings, religious views, and architectural works, including Rice University (Houston, 1909) and various Gothic revival churches. Comments on his eclectic adaptation of Medieval styles to serve his own personalized vision; and notes the influence on him of Morris and the British Arts and Crafts movement.
