Traces the building history of the monastery of S. Lorenzo, Aversa, and the Episcopio (episcopal palace), Capua. Discusses the problems of dating the palace, either to the 11th c. or to the mid-13th c., with two different implications for the development of Norman architecture in Campania: as early manifestation or late survival.
