Traces the history of the Cappella di S. Bernardo (Vicoforte, Santuario), commissioned by Carlo Emanuele I as the mausoleum for the dukes of Savoy, begun by Ascanio Vitozzi in 1598 and finished in the late 17th c., with frescoes (1680) by Giovanni Paolo and Raffaele Recchi. Also describes the tomb (1789-1792) of Carlo Emanuele I by Filippo and Ignazio Collino.
