Discusses the copying of paintings in early Renaissance Italy, and publishes as an example a 1415 document in the papers of the Compagnia della S. Croce of Montepulciano, recording a payment to the painter Nanni (Giovanni) di Caccia to copy a fresco cycle in Florence, probably the Scenes from the Legend of the True Cross by Agnolo Gaddi in S. Croce.
