Abstract (en)

Publishes a 1616 letter from Maria Maddalena to her husband Cosimo II de' Medici, with a sketch of the relics of the Holy Cross in S. Maria dell'Impruneta, which she had just seen for the first time, and for which she later (1620) commissioned a silver reliquary cross (recently attributed to Cosimo Merlini). In the same letter she mentioned that Bronzino's painting of Judith had just been finished (referring to Cristofano Allori, also known as "Bronzino").
