Discusses the tomb of Algarotti in the Camposanto, Pisa, focusing on the roles of Algarotti and Mauro Tesi in the conception and design of the monument, and the contribution of Carlo Bianconi. Argues that the tomb constituted a new type of funerary monument and that its iconography expressed the spirit of the Enlightenment.
