Comments on 19th c. historicism and distinctions among imitations, pastiches, and forgeries. Focuses on the example of the revival of appreciation of Botticelli in the mid- to late 19th c., especially in England (Pre-Raphaelitism, Pater), and the influence of this revival on Berenson. Indicates cases of 19th c. imitations of Botticelli in Berenson's and other collections.
