In relation to photographs discovered recently in the Archivio storico dell'Opificio delle Pietre Dure, discusses the competitions for the funerary monument to Rossini (1897 and 1898). Focuses on the failure of the entries in both cases to satisfy the jury, which qualified their designation of Giuseppe Cassioli. (The monument, in S. Croce, Florence, was unveiled in 1902.)
